This blog needed a update and new look XD. Well for a update since it seems this is read a bit more ^_^. I  have not used chopsticks to take the fish out of the tank I have found a more humane way of cleaning the tank. Also School starts soon which is exciting I have a very easy schedule ^_^ which is nice since Nick and I are now starting a business =X which is off to a very good start ( will post more info on that later once the patent paper work is done ). Also I am doing research which is quite fun my project has changed multiple times in attempt to go where the prof wants it but we have different ideas on what I want to work on it seems =X but its all good ^_^ I will also post some more info on that once the papers are finished and such. Well that is is for nowI really should update this more since school is starting ^_^.

Fedora Core Beta … the lab fish?

July 21st, 2009. Published under beta, internship. No Comments.

About a week ago a group of us in the lab secretly decided that a lab fish was needed…… his name is Fedora Core Beta.
We later realized that order to clean out Fedora Core Beta’s fish tank we needed to remove him from the tank. Sadly we did not have a net, but what we did have plastic wrap and 2 chopsticks from lunch. Below is a short tutorial for how to ingeniously get a lab fish out of its tank and into a mug.

Step 1: Gather necessary Items

(Fig. 1: Two Chopsticks and piece of plastic wrap preferably from a bagel)

Step 2: Mold plastic wrap to make a rectangle and then and roll chopsticks on either side until there is enough room for fish and some water(not to much room fish will slide out =X)

Finished Net

(Fig. 2 : Finished net with chopsticks securely attached and plastic wrap slightly loose in middle.)

Step 3: Put in fish tank.

(Fig. 3: try and capture fish waiting and letting fish swim into net on own.)

Step 4: Capture fish and put in coffee mug.

Fish in mug

(Fig. 4.2: Fish in mug also make sure there is already water in mug or fish will be unhappy)

Finished Result! After cleaning rocks and tank put beta fish back in his home!

And there you have it how to make fish net!
